IEBC voter registration exercise launch

Amb. Lazarus Amayo together with the IEBC Team leader, Ms. Gladys Mwangi and President of the Global Diaspora One Voice Consortium, Dr Robert Chiuri officially launched the IEBC voter registration exercise at the Chancery in Washington DC.

The registration exercise which is concurrently taking place in New York and Los Angeles consulates will be concluded on Feb 4th, 2022. They reiterated that Kenyans coming for the registration exercise will be served with or without appointments.

Amb. Amayo underscored the importance of the exercise and called on the diaspora to turn up in large numbers to register. He urged those with the old generation passports to take advantage of the Government decision to extend their validity to November 2022.

He thanked the IEBC for selecting the US to participate in August 2022 elections. He however, urged IEBC to push for amendments of Election Act to allow voter registration in states with many Kenyans noting that long distance & related costs can reduce diaspora participation.
