Consular outreach programmes

The Embassy paused the programmes of visiting large metropolitan cities with huge population of Kenyans to offer consular services after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. However, once the situation eases, the Embassy will restore the visits.

Kenya National Identity Card Registration

Each applicant has to appear in person with a dully filled form REG_136Dx.
Married ladies who wish to change their names – both husband and wife must be present during the application submission at the Embassy.
All in-person services will be strictly on appointment basis.

The processing of ID’s will take approximately 8 weeks from the date of application.
All applicants are required to bring pictures taken on a white background; following this dimensions 35mm x 45mm (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) (1.38×1.77 inches). You may take a 2″ x 2″ passport size picture but make sure your face appears small (fits within the 1.38×1.77 inches) dimensions. Distance between you and the cameraman will help create this effect. sample below:

Please note that holders of first generation (large ID) are considered first time applicants and should fulfill all the requirements as indicated below under section I.

Requirements:

I. First time applicants and holders of 1st generation Identity card

(3) three pictures taken on a white background (more specifications given above)
Copy of Birth Certificate of the applicant
Copy of applicant passport {Bio-data page of your passport only. (Page with picture and information)}
Copy of Identity Card of either parent of the applicant
The original 1st generation Identity card (requirement for holders of 1st generation Identity card)
A Money Order/Cashier’s Check of US$50 Payable to Embassy of the Republic of Kenya.
A prepaid, self-addressed, FedEx, UPS, United States Postal Service (USPS) Express overnight or Priority mail with delivery confirmation return envelope must be submitted will all applications.

OR:

(3) three pictures taken on a white background (more specifications given above)
Copy of Certificate of Registration
Copy of Naturalization Certificate
Copy of applicant passport (Bio-data page of your passport only, page with picture and information)
The original 1st generation Identity card (requirement for holders of 1st generation Identity card)
A Money Order/Cashier’s Check of US$50 Payable to Embassy of the Republic of Kenya.
A prepaid, self-addressed, FedEx, UPS, United States Postal Service (USPS) Express overnight or Priority mail with delivery confirmation return envelope must be submitted will all applications.

II. Replacement of Lost/ Duplicate/ Mutilated Identity card

(2) two pictures taken on a white background (more specifications given above)
Copy of a police report or a notarized affidavit stating how you lost your Identity Card (for lost cases only)
Copy of Birth Certificate of the applicant
Copy of the applicant’s Identity Card (if available)
Copy of applicant passport (Bio-data page of your passport only, page with picture and information)
Original Identity Card (for duplicate or mutilated applications)
A Money Order/Cashier’s Check of US$50 Payable to Embassy of the Republic of Kenya.

III. Change of Particulars

Original Identity Card of applicant.
Proof of marriage i.e. Copy of marriage certificate
Copies of the couples IDs
Copy of applicant passport (Bio-data page of your passport only, page with picture and information)
Please note for married ladies who wish to change their names both husband and wife need to be present during the application process.
