Celebrating Unity and Kenyan Diaspora Heroes

The Kenyan Diaspora Forum convened by the Global Kenya Diaspora One Voice Consortium under the leadership of Dr. Robert Chiuri to celebrate Oneness and Kenyan Diaspora Heroes in the U.S with Ambassador Lazarus Amayo as the Chief Guest.

Dr. Chiuri noted that the forum provided an opportunity to recognize individuals and organizations that have made impact in the Diaspora community and beyond.

In his remarks Ambassador Amayo congratulated the Diaspora for the timely initiative and encouraged them to foster unity, stating that the Government of Kenya appreciates the valuable contributions made by the Diaspora to the national development agenda.

The panelists who included Prof. Peter Ndiang’ui (African Network); Dr. Ben Koissaba (Indigenous Concerns Resource Center); Laban Opande (Kenya-U.S Bar Association); Kamnao Antony Gitau (KEMEN); Maryanne Goetz (K-NADS PLC) and Dr. Nyariki Otoyota (Kenya Diaspora Alliance-USA) shared their experiences on how the Diaspora organizations they lead have impacted on the community and country. They laid emphasis on unity of purpose and use of the synergy to make important contributions at individual, community and country levels.

The well attended session attracted participants drawn from various Diaspora organizations and Embassy staff.
