AfriThrive Launch
AfriThrive organization led by its Board President, Dr. Truphena Choti was officially launched today. The Organization’s mission is to build vibrant and thriving African immigrant and minority families through access to nutritious and culturally appropriate food, skills development and economic empowerment.
The launch was presided over by Mr. Will Jawando, Council Member Montgomery County; Ambassador Lazarus Amayo of Kenya and Ambassador Lazarus Kapambwe of Zambia.
The Board President informed that during the COVID-19 Pandemic they reached 507 families with food and cash support.
The Council Member encouraged the African Diaspora to actively participate in matters important to them in this country including participating and vying for elective seats in the U.S elections.
Ambassador Lazarus Amayo noted that the African Diaspora plays an important role in the development of the continent through investments, skills transfer and empowerment. He lauded the leadership of the organization for focusing on strengthening the family and community values in their work.
Ambassador Lazarus Kapambwe appreciated the organization for supporting the vulnerable members of the community during the COVID-19 Pandemic and encouraged the African Diaspora to exploit their potential while in this country.
The Launch was also addressed by other officials namely Prof Kefa Otiso and Dr. Charles Choti.
