58th Jamhuri Day virtual celebrations

Amb. Lazarus Amayo led the Embassy of Kenya in Washington DC in marking celebrations for the 58th Jamhuri Day. The event, which was held virtually showcased Kenya’s cultural diversity, landscape and wildlife, economic achievements and resilience, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was graced by the Kenya Diaspora, Heads of Missions and other representatives of Embassies based in Washington DC, members of various business community organizations and representatives from the Kenya Mission to the United Nations, New York and the Kenya Consulates in Los Angeles and New York, respectively.

In his remarks, Amb. Amayo lauded the deep relationship that Kenya and US share. He further remarked that this relationship was augmented this year with H.E President Kenyatta’s visit to the White House on 14th October 2021 and Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s official visit to Kenya from 17th November 2021. The Chief guest during the event was Mr. Ervin Massiga, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of African Affairs at the State Department.
