Meeting with US Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross

Amb. Amayo had a fruitful virtual meeting with US Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

Secretary Ross welcomed Amb. Amayo to DC and wished him well in his new assignment.

The meeting took stock of the current status of bilateral commercial cooperation between the two countries. They were encouraged by the progress thus far achieved under the rubric of the Commercial Cooperation Dialogue and exemplified by the completion of the First Round of Bilateral FTA negotiations earlier this month.

Amb. Amayo highlighted the continuously improving business climate in Kenya and the strides made in the African integration agenda. In this regard, he invited US firms to avail themselves of the enormous investment opportunities arising therefrom. He further noted the strategic place of Kenya as a launch pad for US firms foray into the African market.

They undertook to expedite the pipeline projects foreseen under 2018 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on commercial cooperation to support Kenya’s Big Four Agenda and strategic infrastructure development.
